I am a frugal person who tends to do all things for myself including home cleaning. At age 15, I was already independent. I learned to do a lot of stuff so I can save money or I do things because I don’t have the money to spend. As a single mother with 3 kids, hiring a maid service sounds unpractical. You would think you would rather spend that money for the home cleaning to other expenses. Anyway, cleaning, as many would think, is every mother’s job. All these sound almost right but not actually economical and practical. Why? As a working mom, I clean the house 3 times a week or more often. Not only that, I am too obsessed with little things. When I clean and fix things, I want it seamless and beautiful. Well, the results are always as good as I wanted.
The problem is I spend too much time cleaning. Over familiarity of the place doesn’t help too. It makes the job longer and seems complicated. My mind can see all the mess and dirt in every corner of the house. My over familiarity of the dirt, mess, and disorder, oftentimes paralyze my ever active cleaning mind. Nonetheless, I always end up finishing the home cleaning, but that is not without delay and wasted time. I usually spend 4 hrs minimum to clean the whole house, often times longer than that. Finally I got tired getting to the motions of cleaning and burning time. I thought I was spending like 16 to 36 hours of cleaning our home. With 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a really dirty kitchen, these would really drain you to the last drop of your sweat. So I just thought if I am putting like 24-36 hours average of house chores in a week, which is too much, I must be throwing too many quality hours. Time is gold. I can just spend time getting another job, a job which not only can pay for the house maid but can also give me more savings.
And so I did hire one house maid. It may sound extra expense or unnecessary on my part, but when you are taking to account the time I was spending and converting it to another job, saving money is just a natural result. Funny too, the maid servant takes less time to clean my house. And to my surprise, most of the time it is even more orderly and tidier compared to mine. Well I guess the special cleaning liquid and love for the job do make the difference. The cleaner I have enjoys her job as much I enjoy my savings and time for earning more money.
Now, not only have I saved more money, I have more time to relax and see how clean my house is. I have spare time for many things. I can spend my time for part time online jobs while having a quality time with my teens. I thank my maid servant for the gift of savings and spare time.
